The Ides of March (2011)
Adapted from a stage work titled Farragut North (2008) written by Beau Willimon, The Ides of March talked about Stephen Myers (Ryan Gosling), a Senior Campaign Manager for the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Mike Morris (George Clooney), which is currently facing a formidable opponent of the Republican Party, Ted Pullman (Michael Mantell). Opinion polls show that while Morris himself was on the thin edge when compared to Pullman. A selection of the state of Ohio will determine the fate of the two presidential candidates. If Morris had won the Ohio vote, then he will win the presidency. Meanwhile, victory for Pullman will make votes ahead of Morris.
As a Senior Campaign Manager, Stephen dedicates himself fully to win Morris. Although initially less trust in the political world and the people involved in it, gently Stephen was convinced that Morris is an appropriate figure to lead the United States. Together with Senior Campaign Manager who is also and mentor, Paul Zara (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Stephen structure each step and the strategies needed Morris to be able to win elections. Even so, on the sidelines of his work, Stephen still took him to establish a romantic relationship with Molly Stearns (Evan Rachel Wood), one of the younger members of the Morris campaign team ... a relationship that would eventually provide some surprises on his life and political outlook Stephen.
Although the actors and actresses starring Academy Award winners such as George Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti to Marisa Tomei, The Ides of March is a movie that is whole again showed a deep acting capacity from a Ryan Gosling. Like the character he played The Kid in the Drive (2011), Stephen Myers character that Gosling played in this film is a figure of the character more emotional side through issuing various body gestures, facial expressions or body movements that he produces. And Gosling, once again, managed to do so convincingly. Although his character is a supporting character, but the character Molly Stearns, played by Evan Rachel Wood's character is a crucial figure in the story and also have quite a lot of scenes that can make the appearance of Rachel Wood will get a lot of public attention.
